'90s Game Art - FASA & Others

In the 1990's, before normal maps or even hardware rendering, we made a lot of pre-rendered art and models for software renderers. Shown here are models & scenes I created while working as an Art Lead at FASA Interactive and Viacom New Media between 1995-1999.

Back then we had the early versions of 3d Studio, but still used tools like Alias on SGI machines. The hardware would keep your office nice and warm. PC Software like Bryce was changing how 3D terrain was visualized. Game engines were mostly proprietary, and when 3DFX cards finally came out the possibilities seemed unlimited. :)
