Death Toll (2018) - I was the only artist working on this game, which was made in a little over a year as a self-financed indie project. As such we leaned heavily on unity assets and stock art assets to put this game together. The goal was a mixture of battlefield and pubg, with a few twists. This page presents the environment work I did on the project.
Freedom Island is the main game level, a 4x4 km environment designed to support land & air vehicle combat game play.
As the world artist I was responsible for all aspects including creating the play surface, lighting, sky, atmospherices, and day/night cycles. Layout & implementation of over 40 "settlements" (collections of structures & props), and approx. 10km of road system connecting everything.
The world was created in Unity using a number of 3rd party tools. Terrain topology was created in Map Magic using a mix of Perlin noise layers and hand sculpting. Terrain materials & vegetation distribution were done with Terrain Composer 2 and RTP Shaders. Vegetation is a mix of SpeedTree and other assets. Water uses Aquas, and roads created with EZ Roads v3.
Lastly (whew!) I did all the capture & editing of the trailer shown at the top of this page.
